This week our government is giving us a great lesson in management or, more likely mismanagement, as more and more balls are thrown in the air!

I am reminded of an article on juggling that was written by marketing guru,Seth Godin – Here are a couple of his germane comments:

“I am remined of seven years ago; I shared a secret about juggling. — Throwing is more important than catching. If you’re good at throwing, the catching takes care of itself” — he later adds; “Learn how to throw, to initiate, to do with care and you’ll need to spend far less time worrying about catching them in the first place”

Perhaps the new administration needs to learn how to take the time and effort to better throw the balls instead of flooding the zone. Perhaps this would lead to less firefighting, perhaps creating an opportunity for consensus, a lot more productivity, and perhaps catching more balls! Isn’t that the goal?
